HOW TO HATCH YOUR PANTHER CHAMELEON EGG

Please read these instructions carefully.

Only males are colored and females are a pinkish color.

Carefully remove the incubator from the shipping box and see the actual inner flap of the shipping box for a detailed guide to setting up your incubator.

Find a place to put your incubator (not a moving drawer, as this will void the warranty) which should have a day and night temperature shift (5-10 degree shift is no problem and recommended) Ideal temperature is 73-76 degrees, but the egg can fluctuate from 60 to 80 degrees.

A shelf in a closet is best, or a location you can monitor without moving the egg.  The egg can be placed in a dark place since light is not a necessity for hatching, Do not worry if your closet fluctuates temperature, as the incubator is designed to buffer against temperature fluctuation.

CARE FOR YOUR EGG

DO NOT Candle Your Panther Chameleon Egg

IT WILL ONLY HARM THE EGG & VOID THE WARRANTY!

& Moving the Egg to Candle the Egg Could Also Cause the Egg to Fail.

The shell is too thick to see the veins please trust, if your egg is white and not moldy it will hatch!

The dot on top of your egg must stay up, it’s there because that is where the chameleon is fixed to the top of the egg, the closer the egg gets to hatching the more imperative it is not to move it around as this will only damage the egg.

You should have received a hatching solution container in your box please add that to the colored sponges around the egg container this makes your incubator maintenance-free please put it somewhere where you can monitor it and view it without moving it. Side note in the event that the hatching solution evaporates please contact us before taking matters into your own hands please or moving the egg.

If your egg is white and not “moldy” or discolored (windowing) the egg is fine even if it goes past the expected hatch date, provided on the lid. Don’t panic mother nature is very tricky!

The date provided on the lid is approximately 6 months from the date the egg was laid, panther chameleon eggs can and have been known to take up to a year to hatch, again the date on the lid is an approximate date not the actual expected date.

Our (Deli-Cup Syle) incubator design requires an up-and-down fluctuation of temperature. Please do not put our incubator (Deli-Cup Syle) in an incubator as the standard temperature setting will let the Rocks dry out in the container because it’s not moving the moisture in and out of the two containers something to that effect.

AS YOUR EGG BEGINS TO HATCH

The egg will start to get water drops on the outside of it and will shrink dramatically, this means your baby is 24-48 hours away from fully emerging from the egg, After baby is fully out of the egg it will sleep for 6 to 8 hours and then wake-up and become mobile at which point you can move them into the enclosure. The best way to do this is to just remove both lids from the incubator and put a small branch for him to climb up into the enclosure.

How to Set Up the Perfect Panther Chameleon Cage.

ENCLOSURE

We recommend a screen terrarium; the best size for a baby is 16 x 16 x 30, available through ZooMed. It is effortless to set this up with branches small and nimbly is best for babies (example-Manzanita, grapevine, small branchy branches) easily fixed in the cage with plant tie wire, slip it through the screen around the stem, and twist-tie it on the outside of the screen. Be careful not to damage the screen as it will allow small bugs to escape.

LIGHTING

We recommend a T5 5.0 UVB ZooMed Reptisun fluorescent minimum 24 inches long; The coil type UVB’s do not work for Panther Chameleons, this will result in poor health for your Chameleon. We also recommend a standard 25-watt incandescent appliance bulb. Both lights should be put on a timer to run 12 on and 12 off (example 7 am to 7 pm)

What do Panther Chameleons Eat & Drink

WATERING YOUR PANTHER CHAMELEON

Panther Chameleons cannot drink from a bowl. It is best to mist your cage down lightly two times in the morning 15 mins apart, just enough to make dew on the leaves, up to 4 to 5 times a day will not hurt the Chameleon, it rains periodically in Madagascar it does not hurt the Chameleon to mist the cage while he is sleeping, excellent for hydration.

FOOD FOR YOUR HATCHLING

Your baby will not eat immediately out of the egg. Generally, 24-48 hours, they will start to feed on their own.

We recommend starting with Hydei fruit flies, Bean beetles, and pinhead to 2 week old crickets depending on the size of your panther. A good rule of thumb, if it can fit between the space of the Chameleon’s eyes, he can swallow it. Every baby is different in the amount of food they will eat, and you will know right away if your Chameleon is a heavy eater or not. Adjust feeding accordingly.
